Are you a gamer? If yes, then you’ll understand the need to have the right equipment. Here are just a few things to think about when setting up your gaming zone!
Desks
- should be the right height (measure up)
- have sufficient desktop space to hold every device
- be sturdy to prevent devices falling to the floor
- have sufficient leg room for swivelling
Chairs
- hugely important to have the right chair as you’ll spend hours in it
- check posture and lumbar support
- for the times when naps are required, consider a head rest or chair tilt
- check its sturdiness (after all, leaning back for comfort is mandatory)
- decide on the functionality you want (comfort, practicality, space saving etc)
Footrest
- Pop a footrest under the table to help with blood flow and aching legs
Furniture
- have sufficient cupboards and storage space to hold all your peripherals/cords
- create a gaming space that puts you in control
- ensure you have all the right accessories (headset, microphone, desk tidy etc)
Lighting
- create the mood of your choice
- desk light for those times when you can’t reach the room switch quickly
- ring lights suitable for podcasting and live blogging
Backdrops
- with Zoom meetings and social media blogging on the rise, setup your backdrop
- include: partitions, artificial plants, decor, pictures, vases, photo frames
Sound
- setup acoustic foam pads to absorb sounds:
- your enemy creeping up in the game
- outside traffic
- household noise and crying kids that you’ve sent to bed, but they want to play
- loud parties from next door
- partner’s loud TV program in other room
- quality headset and microphone
- noise cancelling equipment
- speakers to provide that surround sound experience
Food/Drinks
- for the serious gamers, why not have a bar fridge in your room!
Devices/Rigs
